Public-Hearing Rescheduled-and-Comment-Period-Extended-on-Proposed-Permit-Renewals-for-Danny-Webb-UIC-Facility

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – A public hearing on two permit renewal applications for an underground injection control (UIC) facility near Lochgelly in Fayette County has been rescheduled for April 21. Two previously scheduled hearings had to be postponed due to inclement weather conditions.

The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection’s Office of Oil and Gas will host the April 21 public hearing. It is set for 6 to 8 p.m. at Oak Hill High School, located at 350 West Oyler Ave. Public comments will be taken orally and in writing at the hearing and in writing through May 1. An information station will also be set up at the hearing at which DEP representatives will respond to questions about the permit applications and the application review process.

The applicant is Danny E. Webb Construction Inc. The Danny Webb Construction facility, known as the North Hill Plant, operates two commercial class II UIC wells where fluids associated with oil and natural gas production are injected. If approved, the permits for the two wells (draft permit numbers 2D0190460 and 2D0190508) would be valid for five years.

Public comments on the proposed permit renewals will be considered by the DEP before the agency decides whether to approve or deny the permit applications.
