WVDEP hosting public meeting on proposed water quality improvement plans for Mon River Watershed

The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection is hosting a public meeting to discuss proposed water quality improvement plans for the main stem of the Monongahela River and an unnamed tributary (UNT) at River Mile (RM) 18.48 of Deckers Creek in the Monongahela River Watershed.

The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., on May 14, at the Falcon Center, Fairmont State University, 1201 Locust Ave., Fairmont, WV. Parking is available on the third floor of the parking garage.

Representatives from the WVDEP Division of Water and Waste Management will discuss Total Maximum Daily Load, or TMDL, development in impaired streams in the Monongahela River Watershed. A TMDL is a plan of action used to clean up streams that are not meeting water quality standards. WVDEP staff also will present its monitoring and assessment plans, including sampling locations, and what will be monitored.
