Water quality and quantity issues change as society changes. They are complex, create controversy, and impact our
lives. To address crucial water issues we need people who think broadly and who understand systems, connections,
patterns, and causes.
Education provides one of the best approaches to ensure that young people understand the interdependence of the
natural world and human society. The challenge for educators is to create an environmental literacy and ethic in our
youth so that they are able to approach environmental problems responsibly through their lives and actions.
Publications developed by Project WET are designed to help educators inspire in our youth a sense of personal
responsibility for the care of the planet we inhabit.
