CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The 2019 Environmental Awards, which
honor the initiatives of organizations and individuals from across West
Virginia, were presented today during a special ceremony at the West Virginia
Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP) headquarters in Charleston.
The 13 individuals, volunteer groups, local government
officials, and industry leaders were honored in categories ranging from Municipal
Stormwater and Water Conservation to Land Revitalization and Environmental Stewardship.
The 2019 Environmental Award recipients are:
Cabinet Secretary Award: John McDaniel, Director
of Engineering and Technical Services for Eastern Operations, Arch Coal
Environmental Stewardship: West Virginia
Environmental Stewardship: Berkeley County
Council – Roadside Litter Control
Environmental Stewardship: Mr. Clifford Sullivan’s
fifth-grade class – Mount Hope Elementary
Education and Community Involvement: Main Street
Education and Community Involvement: Beverly
Elementary School (Randolph County)
Brownfield and Voluntary Program: Business
Development Corporation of the Northern Panhandle and Pietro Fiorentini USA,
Land Revitalization: The City of Richwood –
Helios Park Stormwater Project
Environmental Partnership: Herb Peddicord, WV
Division of Forestry
Water Conservation: Guardians of the West Fork
