WVDEP’s REAP Awards More Than $48,000 In Litter Control Grants

 


Recipients include solid waste authorities, municipalities


CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP) has announced the recipients of the fiscal year 2018 Rehabilitation Environmental Action Plan (REAP) Litter Control Matching Grants for fiscal year 2018.

The 18 recipients were approved for $48,328.68 in grant funding. Funding for the litter control program is generated through Legislative Rule 33 CSR 10: “For unlawful disposal of litter, the circuit clerk shall deposit 50% of all civil penalties into the Litter Control Fund.”

Berkeley County Solid Waste Authority: $3,000.00
The funding will be used for a billboard anti-litter campaign for the
county-wide litter program.

Boone County Solid Waste Authority: $1,500.00
The funding will be used for “Unlawful to Litter” signage for the county
litter program.

Clay County Commission: $3,000.00
The funding will be used for litter receptacles, installation and promotional
supplies for the student volunteer cleanup project.

Town of Clendenin: $3,000.00
The funding will be used for litter receptacles for the town. 

Town of Delbarton: $3,000.00
The funding will be used for supplies and disposal for a town cleanup project.

Hancock County Solid Waste Authority: $1,600.00
The funding will be used for wages and vehicle expenses for a county-wide
cleanup project.

Kanawha County Commission: $3,000.00
The funding will be used for overtime for off-duty deputies to issue litter
citations and work cleanup events.

City of Kenova: $3,000.00
The funding will be used for educational materials, trash bags, metal
litter receptacles and to assist with razing dilapidated structures.

Marion County Solid Waste Authority: $3,000.00
The funding will be used for personnel wages for a county-wide cleanup program.

Mason County Commission: $1,250.00
The funding will be used for fuel expenses for the county-wide cleanup program.

City of Parkersburg: $3,000.00
The funding will be used for recycling bins for the city-wide program.

Pleasants County Commission: $3,000.00
The funding will be used for personnel wages for the illegal dump project.

Preston County Commission: $3,000.00
The funding will be used for litter control vehicle fuel and disposal fees for the
county-wide cleanup program.

Raleigh County Solid Waste Authority: $2,393.68
The funding will be used for safety equipment, supplies and signage for the litter
control program.

Region VIII Solid Waste Authority: $2,525.00
The funding will be used for camera equipment for the illegal dump and litter
prevention program. 

Wayne County Commission: $3,000.00
The funding will be used for Litter Control Officer wages.

Wetzel County Solid Waste Authority: $3,000.00
The funding will be used for Litter Control Officer wages.

Wyoming County Solid Waste Authority: $3,000.00
The funding will be used for fuel, maintenance and uniforms
for the litter control program.
