The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP) is hosting public meetings in McDowell and Mingo counties to discuss the development of Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) in the Tug Fork Watershed.
A TMDL is a plan of action used to clean up impaired streams that are not meeting water quality standards.
Staff from WVDEP's Division of Water and Waste Management (DWWM) will present monitoring plans for the watershed including sampling locations and what parameters will be monitored.
A public meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m., May 17th at McDowell County Library, 90 Howard Street, Welch WV 24801.
