The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection's (WVDEP) Division of Water and Waste Management is inviting stakeholders and interested members of the public to participate in a virtual information session about the upcoming Water Quality Standards Triennial Review.
The triennial review, required by the federal Clean Water Act, is the process used to evaluate potential revisions to Legislative Rule §47 CSR 2, Requirements Governing Water Quality Standards. This rule establishes water quality standards for the state's surface waters and helps protect designated uses such as public water supply, recreation, aquatic life, and other beneficial uses.
During the information session, WVDEP staff will provide an overview of the triennial review process, explain how water quality standards are developed and revised, and outline how interested parties can submit recommendations for consideration.
