WVDEP’s REAP To Provide Litter Collection Bags, Other Supplies
CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Before catching fish during the Capital City Classic fishing competition on June 24, the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP) and Mountain State Kayak Anglers Association (MSKA) hope anglers will hook some litter.
In the days leading up to the competition, WVDEP and MSKA are asking the anglers taking part in the competition to collect at least one bag of litter or one tire during their pre-competition scouting of the Kanawha and Elk rivers. The bags, gloves, and litter grabbers the MSKA anglers can use are being supplied by the WVDEP’s Rehabilitation Environmental Action Plan (REAP), and may be picked up at WV Outdoors in Poca.
The collected litter can be dropped off at any Division of Natural Resources public access boat ramp along the Kanawha or Elk River in the Charleston area. For each bag of trash collected, MSKA members will receive an entry into prize drawings at the fishing tournament.
