CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Nov. 1, 2019) – The West
Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP) is accepting water
quality data collected from the state’s waters for the development of a
combined 2018/2020 Integrated Report.
The report fulfills the reporting requirements
of the federal Clean Water Act, Section 303(d) to provide a list of impaired
waters and Section 305(b) to provide an overall assessment of West Virginia's
waters to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The term "waters"
refers to lakes, wetlands, and streams.
WVDEP staff will evaluate any existing and
readily available data collected from July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2019 that is submitted
by Monday, Dec. 16, 2019.
During the development of the report, the
Section 303(d) list of impaired waters will be available for public review and
comment.
