WVDEP conducting public meeting on proposed water quality improvement plans for Hughes River

 

The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection is hosting a public meeting to discuss proposed water quality improvement plans for the Hughes River in the Little Kanawha River Watershed. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. on May 15 at North Bend State Park, 202 North Bend Park Road, Cairo, WV., 26337.

Representatives from the WVDEP Division of Water and Waste Management will discuss Total Maximum Daily Load, or TMDL, development for the Hughes River. A TMDL is a plan of action used to clean up streams that are not meeting water quality standards. WVDEP staff also will present its monitoring and assessment plans for the Little Kanawha River Watershed, including sampling locations, and what will be monitored.
