WVDEP hosting 13 free tire collection events around the state in October and November

Charleston, W.Va. – The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection's (WVDEP) Rehabilitation Environmental Action Plan (REAP) is hosting 13 free tire collection events around the state in October and November.

The October events are:

  • Logan County: Friday, October 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Old KCity Lot on Enterprise Drive in Mount Gay
  • Jefferson County: Saturday, October 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Kearneysville DOH Garage located at 1301 Old Leetown Pike, Kearneysville, WV 25430
  • Roane County:Saturday, October 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bowman Street Parking Lot in Spencer
  • Kanawha County: Saturday, October 15 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the parking lot at the intersection of C Street and 4th Avenue in South Charleston
  • Upshur County: Saturday, October 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. across from the City of Buckhannon Recycling Center at 395 Mud Lick Road
  • Logan County: Friday, October 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Old KCity Lot on Enterprise Drive in Mount Gay
  • Cabell County: Saturday, October 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 800 Virginia Avenue in Huntington
  • Pendleton County: Saturday, October 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pendleton County Economic Development Authority Lot located at 100 Thorn Creek Road in Franklin
The November events include:

  • Greenbrier County: Tuesday, November 2 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the National Guard Armory in Rainelle
  • Logan County: Friday, November 4 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Old KCity Lot on Enterprise Drive in Mount Gay.
  • Jackson County: Saturday, November 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the County Fairgrounds on Route 33 in Cottageville
  • Hampshire County: Saturday, November 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hampshire County Fairgrounds on Fairground Drive in Augusta
  • Wirt County: Saturday, November 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ellisons Dozer Service on Route 14 in Elizabeth
Individuals can dispose of up to 10 tires per person. The tires must be off the rims and only car and light truck tires will be accepted. The WVDEP requests that individuals stay in their vehicles when dropping off tires.

Certain counties offer ongoing tire collection events. These include:

  • Boone County: Every Tuesday and Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Boone County Recycling Center.
  • Brooke County: Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Brooke County Recycling Center
  • Calhoun County: The third (3rd) Friday of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cabot Station Recycling Center on Rt. 5, two miles West of Grantsville
  • Fayette County: Suspended until further notice
  • Greenbrier County: Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Greenbrier County Landfill
  • Hancock County: Call Hancock County Solid Waste Authority at 304-459-3269 for more information
  • Marion County: The second (2nd) and fourth (4th) Saturdays of each month from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 185 Buffalo Brink Road (Take Buffalo Street past Hough Park to Dents Run Road. The tire collection will sit 100 yards past the entrance to Dents Run Road)
  • Mason County: Call Mason County Recycling Center at 304-675-7855 for more information
  • Mercer County: The first (1st) Friday of each month from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mercer County Landfill
  • Mingo County: The second (2nd) and fourth (4th) Saturdays of each month from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Veolia Water located at 317 E 3rd Avenue in Williamson
  • Monroe County: The second (2nd) Wednesday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon at the Monroe County Recycling Center
  • Ohio County: The second (2nd) and fourth (4th) Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to noon at 176 Satterfield Drive in Triadelphia (Behind Bust Buy, next to Cabela's)
  • Pocahontas County: Call Pocahontas County Landfill at 304-799-4199 for more information
  • Putnam County: The first Friday of each  month from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at WV Cashin Recyclables on 1 Pickens Road in Nitro.
  • Summers County: The last Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Old Safe and Sound Security Systems located at 2128 State Highway 3
  • Tucker County: The first (1st) Thursday of each month from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Tucker County Landfill
  • Wayne County: The first (1st) Monday of each month from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Wayne County Solid Waste Authority
  • Wetzel: The second (2nd) and fourth (4th) Saturdays of each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the old Thomas Drug Store lot located at 242 North Street
  • Wyoming County: The first (1st) Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wyoming County Landfill
