Over 250 fifth-grade students from Fayette
County will participate in the annual Fayette County Water Festival on
Thursday, April 4 from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Fayette County Park in Beckwith.
The event is sponsored by the West Virginia Department of Environmental
Protection’s (WVDEP) Watershed Improvement Branch and Project WET, and the
National Park Service.
Attendees
will participate in a variety of activities designed to promote awareness,
knowledge and stewardship of water resources.
Students will learn about stormwater and pollution,
the water cycle, stream insects, brook trout and other aquatic life. Presenters
include the West Virginia Conservation Agency, the WVDEP’s Youth Environmental
Program, the West Virginia Division of Forestry and the National Park Service.
