In anticipation of this year’s Adopt-A-Highway spring
cleanup, the Department of Environmental Protection is partnering with the
Adopt-A-Highway program and a local community outreach group for a combined
cleanup on Thursday, April 11 and Saturday, April 13 in Kanawha City.
DEP employees and members of East Kanawha Estates, a volunteer
group based out of Kanawha City and a member of the Adopt-A-Highway program, will
collaborate to clean up over two miles of MacCorkle Ave. in Kanawha City, and
the surrounding area from the DEP building to Big Lots. The DEP will conduct its clean up on April 11th, while East Kanawha Estates will work on April 13.
Thursday's event starts at 10 a.m. and Saturday's clean up kicks off at 8 a.m. and will coincide with the City of Charleston's "Team Up to Clean Up." All volunteers are welcome on Saturday.
The annual Adopt-A-Highway spring cleanup is set for Saturday,
April 27. The registration deadline is April 19.
